Maximum length of GPS cabling for antenna

What is the maximum cable length of the GPS antenna ?

The maximum cable length for the GPS ntp time server antenna depends on the gain of the antenna and the quality of the coax cable utilised. Galleon Systems provides two types of antenn, a patch type GPS antenna and a pole-mounting type antenna.

The pole-mounting antenna has a higher gain, so can utilise a longer cable length than the patch type antenna. The gain of the pole-mounting antenna is 35dB, while the gain of the patch type antenna is 27dB.

The maximum cable distance for the patch type antenna are as follows:

Cable Type Maximum Cable Distance
Standard RG58 20m (25m overall)
Galleon Systems Low-Loss 25m (30m) overall

The maximum cable distance for the pole-mounting type antenna are as follows:

Cable Type Maximum Cable Distance
Standard RG58 30m
Galleon Systems Low-Loss 50m
Galleon Systems Ultra-Low Loss 100m
