What is the maximum cable length of the GPS antenna ?
The maximum cable length for the a GPS ntp time server antenna depends on the gain of the antenna and the quality of the coax cable utilised. Galleon Systems provides two types of antenn, a patch type GPS antenna and a pole-mounting type antenna.
The pole-mounting antenn has a higher gain, so can utilise a longer cable length than the patch type antenna. The gain of the pole-mounting antenn is 35dB, while the gain of the patch type antenna is 27dB.
The maximum cable distance for the patch type antenna are as follows:
| Cable Type |
Maximum Cable Distance |
| Standard RG58 |
20m (25m overall) |
| Galleon Systems Low-Loss |
25m (30m) overall |
The maximum cable distance for the pole-mounting type antenna are as follows:
| Cable Type |
Maximum Cable Distance |
| Standard RG58 |
30m |
| Galleon Systems Low-Loss |
50m |
| Galleon Systems Ultra-Low Loss |
100m |
