Public NTP Servers Public NTP servers are ideal for a company which has no NTP server but requires one in order to synchronise there network what the public NTP servers do are to allow the company to recieve the time source from the NTP server of another company such as Microsoft. The downsides to a public NTP server is that the time collected from this NTP server isn't as secure as a company own NTP server as the server doesn't work behind the firewall and you have to actually open up a port to the public server.The time accuracy of the public NTP server could also be off resulting in problems for the company,including lost of data.
