Network time receive and synchronize time on an IT system or network. Network time acquire UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) time from an outside source, such as NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) or the U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO). Depending on the capabilities of the network time server it can retrieve packets of time from either the Internet or a GPS satellite.
